2018 Empty Bowls Event

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

Welcome to the 11th Annual Empty Bowls Project, hosted by the Fostoria Junior/Senior High School Art Club.  This is an exciting year because art students and creative cuisine students have collaborated in making bowls, mugs and chili for the event. We have raised over $5200.00 in the last 10 years for the Sharing Kitchen and the local food pantry.

The concept of Empty Bowls began in 1990 when a high school art teacher from Michigan proposed a class project of making ceramic bowls for a fundraiser. Guests were served a simple meal of soup and bread.  In exchange for the meal, guests gave a minimum donation of $10.00 and were invited to keep the bowl as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world.  The money raised was given to the local food bank. This year’s Empty Bowls supper will be held in the Fostoria Senior High School cafeteria on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. We will serve a variety of hearty soups and chili, bread and water generously donated by three different local vendors.  All proceeds will benefit the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen and Pantry Plus of Seneca County.  We hope you will be able to partake in this event and help us reach our goal of eight-hundred dollars.

Dear Parents/Guardians of Fostoria City Schools,

We believe it is important to communicate with our families.  One way we do that is with our instant message system. We are using a company called School Messenger. 

The phone numbers and emails that are used initially are the contacts listed in our student information system (DASL). If you would like to be able to change how you are contacted, we will need a current email address in our system. Please send your current email address using the link provided below and we will enter that into our student information system.

Once your address is in you will be able to go to https://go.schoolmessenger.com/#/home and create an account that will allow you to add numbers and email addresses to your profile. Note: Changes made through the School Messenger application do not inform your child’s school of the changes.  Parents/Guardians should also inform the school of any changes to phone numbers and/or email addresses.

School Messenger provides you the opportunity to “Opt-In” if you wish to receive school/district messages via text by texting“Yes” to our district’s short code number, 67587.  You can also “Opt Out” of receiving text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop.”   

School Messenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.

Transportation Request Form

Bus route planning for the 2018/19 school year is in full swing. Each summer, we check with parents of students regarding transportation for the upcoming school year.  If your child will not be riding the bus this coming school year, please contact our office -- by email This email address is being protected from spambots. If they will not be riding, we will remove them from the route list.  Should they need to be put back on the route, you can call the transportation office and we will put them back on a route.  This helps us keep our ridership accurate to ensure we have a spot for all students who will be riding the bus.

Please turn in completed alternate request forms to students building. May take up to five(5) school days to be processed.  (Click here for Alternate Transportation Request Form)
