TEACHING LIFE SKILLS THROUGH ATHLETICS
Fostoria City Schools offers a wide variety of extracurricular athletic activities. The purpose in providing so many opportunities is to give all students a chance to participate in some capacity. FCS believes that the sports arena is an extension of the classroom that adds an important element to student’s education. Coaches and staff are committed to developing the whole person. While they are involved in the athletic programs, coaches help student-athletes learn valuable lessons that can be applied throughout their lives. Staff strive to be part of the team of family members, educators, and community that assist students to achieve their dreams as healthy, happy, productive adults. Students work hard, play hard, and have fun as they come together to reach their full potential.
Coaches and staff thank the citizens of Fostoria for their unparalleled belief in the district athletic programs, demonstrated by the overwhelming support of the Fostoria Redmen Club and Athletic Boosters, the impact of which is immeasurable.
Resources about youth concussions available for school nurses
The Ohio Department of Health's Violence and Injury Prevention Program is pleased to announce our new youth concussion web page, www.healthyohioprogram.org/concussion, created to implement Ohio's new Return to Play Law. As required by the new law (HB 143, 129th General Assembly), the site contains links to online trainings for coaches and referees and concussion information sheets for both youth sports organizations and schools. In addition to the required materials, the site also contains fact sheets for parents and coaches, a frequently asked questions document that outlines major provisions of the new law, and additional resources for health care practitioners, educators and school nurses.
